The Lord said to Moses . . . “I want the people of Israel to build me a sacred residence where I can live among them. You must make this Tabernacle and its furnishings exactly according to the plans I will show you.” (Exodus 25:8-9 NLT)

The model shows the activities on the Day of Atonement (see Leviticus 16). On the Day of Atonement the High Priest was to present a bull as a sin offering for himself and his family. The people of Israel were to bring him two male goats and a ram as a burnt offering. One goat was to be killed and one goat was to be released as a scapegoat.

The altar of burnt offering was to be made of acacia wood and overlaid with bronze.

Leviticus 1:16 describes an area east of the altar where the ashes were.

The laver or basin for washing was placed between the Tent of Meeting and the bronze altar. It was used for washing the hands and feet of the priests.

This cutaway model shows the interior of the Tabernacle and the four layers of curtains covering it. See Exodus 26.

The Holy Place contained three items:

The Table of Shewbread

The Lampstand

and the Altar of Incense

See Exodus 25 and 30 for details.

The Most Holy Place contained the Ark of the Covenant and its unique contents.
