Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, the place provided by David. (2 Chronicles 3:1)

Now Boaz, with whose women you have worked, is a relative of ours. Tonight he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor. Wash, put on perfume, and get dressed in your best clothes. Then go down to the threshing floor, but don’t let him know you are there until he has finished eating and drinking. (Ruth 3:2-3)

Threshing Fork & Sieve

I will winnow them with a winnowing fork at the city gates of the land. I will bring bereavement and destruction on my people, for they have not changed their ways. (Jeremiah 15:7)

Granary Model

Place: Tomb of Meketre, Western Thebes, Egypt

This model depicts clerks keeping records of the grain on tablets and papyrus scrolls, while other workers measure grain in buckets and deposit it in the granary.

 

In Genesis 41ff, Pharaoh has a dream that foretells a great famine in the land. After interpreting Pharaoh’s dream, Joseph is put in charge of stockpiling grain to enable the Egyptians to survive the famine. Over a period of years, Joseph fills Egypt’s granaries with grain. This model depicts a granary from the period Joseph lived in Egypt.
